The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) is a national political party in the Philippines, formed in 2018 by supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte, advocating for a federal government structure. The party was formally accredited by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) that same year. It initially gained significant traction, securing 238 elected positions, including six in the House of Representatives, during the 2019 elections. In 2021, Bongbong Marcos joined the party as chairman and was nominated as its presidential candidate for the 2022 elections, leading to the formation of the UniTeam Alliance with other political groups. Marcos and his vice-presidential running mate Sara Duterte won the 2022 elections, marking the first time under the 1987 Constitution that the President and Vice President were elected by a majority vote.
PFP advocates for replacing the Philippines’ unitary system with a federalist government. It is described as a party that represents the common man, the poor, and the grassroots, with goals of eradicating illegal drugs, corruption, crime, insurgency, and poverty. The party’s principles, as outlined by its president Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., include humanism, patriotic federalism, enlightened socialism, and direct democracy, with a strong emphasis on human dignity and equality for all Filipinos. The party’s slogan is “a life worthy of human dignity for every Filipino.”
Additionally, PFP has proposed long-term plans for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), including skills training, benefits, retirement plans, health insurance, scholarship grants, and other support services. Political scientist Julio C. Teehankee classifies PFP as part of the neo-authoritarian political groups that emerged during Duterte’s presidency.
